  • Develop Theme/Mitigation Theory
    • Compile records from client, family, medical, school, military, original sources
    • Interview family, friends, significant others, witnesses, co-defendants
    • Research relevant issues
  • Identify and substantiate Mitigating Factors
    • Argue and/or refute aggravating factors
  • Comment and/or Object to Probation Department's Report when applicable
  • Develop Plan and Recommendation
    • Seek community support/resources: Employment, Treatment, Education, Vocational Training, Restitution Plan, Victim Offender Mediation, etc
    • Identify alternative sanctions which satisfy the goals of sentencing
